Stefanie has been a life-long counselor. Even before receiving her degrees, she was the person friends turned to for honest, sage advice. At Elizabethtown College, she received her Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology with a minor in Social Work. While receiving her Master’s Degree at West Chester University, Stefanie worked closely with high school students in a public, Pennsylvania high school as a Mental Health Worker. She completed her Master’s of Education in School Counseling in 2006.
Stefanie made a big move to Puerto Rico and lived there for over eight years. She worked at Baldwin School of Puerto Rico as their middle-upper school guidance counselor. When expecting her first son, she decided to direct her focus to her family.
In 2020, when her second son started Kindergarten, Stefanie decided to earn her Certificate of College Counseling from the University of California, San Diego. Since completing the certification, Stefanie has been working towards honing her skills as an Independent College Advisor through assisting students with the college application process. She has learned from fellow college advisors and keeps her finger on the pulse of what is happening in the ever-evolving world of college admissions. As an advisor, Stefanie pairs two of her passions; working with young people and the counseling world, to reveal each student to themselves so they may reach their higher education and professional goals.
Stefanie lives in Westchester County, NY with her husband, two boys and their dog. She remains very involved in the local school district and temple. She loves training/playing with the family dog, exercising, and playing Mah Jongg.
Lori Bejar has extensive experience working with all age groups from preschool through high school in various educational settings, both formal and informal. Five years ago, she began working with high school juniors and seniors, coaching them in the college application essay writing process. In some cases, it’s been as simple as reviewing and editing an essay; in others it’s been a collaboration which includes working together to better understand what colleges are looking for, brainstorming ideas, and reviewing and editing until the student is satisfied. Lori prides herself on building a rapport with each of her students while tailoring her approach to meet their individual needs. Lori is originally from Florida, but has been living in San Juan, Puerto Rico for the past 40 years.
